With Christmas just around the corner, baking season is in full swing. If you’ll be baking away this holiday season, you’ll want to make sure you have plenty of unbleached flour, raw sugar and pure vanilla extract.
Julie, owner of The Vanilla Beanery, tells us the story behind the extract:
As a home baker, I had to borrow vanilla extract from a neighbor while making cookies. I never realized that vanilla extract could have such a powerful yet subtle impact on my favorite recipe as my neighbor’s vanilla did. I searched all over for this particular extract with no success.
Next, I began a search for an equally powerful vanilla extract but after a few years I gave up. Most extracts tasted like all the rest.
I wondered if I could make a vanilla extract with the exceptional flavor I was seeking. After experimenting many different vanilla beans with lots of different spirits, I finally came up with something that I am proud to offer for sale.
